First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zola.
Marketing
Had a phone screen where the recruiter was really complimentary about my experience and said it seemed like a good match. Then they ghosted me for about a week without a clear reason, and I got a generic rejection email. It's funny because they said the team was 'very into communication,' which I now think might mean they micromanage a lot.

Account Executive
The interview process was really thorough. I talked to four people from the team, some of whom are my colleagues now and others are in management. They asked good questions, and I really got a feel for Zola’s culture and values. It was a good experience, and they kept me updated throughout their decision-making.

Account Executive
I was a top rep at their main competitor for years and wanted to work for them. My applications were always rejected, so I messaged the CEO directly to ask why they wouldn't even consider me. They were concerned about moles, which is understandable. I went through their interview process and then got ghosted. I was really keen on joining Zola and followed up 2-3 times asking for feedback to help me work with them later, but never heard back. It was super disappointing.
- What are your strategies for handling objections?
- Can you describe your approach to handling rebuttals?

Product Management Director
The interview process was pretty standard. First, there was a 30-minute Zoom call with the hiring manager. After that, I had a 2.5-hour session with five different Zola employees. Overall, it was a great interview experience; I really enjoyed talking with the hiring manager and felt a good connection with the team. A few days later, I received a rejection email stating I "didn't have enough startup experience." It was super frustrating to have wasted 3 hours when they could have easily checked my resume beforehand to see I lacked startup experience. That would have saved everyone some time.
- Can you share an instance where you exhibited a particular skill or behavior?
