Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zola.
Software Engineer
I talked to a recruiter first who went over my resume and some general stuff. Then I had a technical phone screen where I had to solve an algorithms problem. After that, I talked to two engineers about technical things on my resume. Finally, I got an offer.
- Could you write a function to determine if a string with three types of parentheses is valid?
Software Engineer
I was contacted by an in-house recruiter at Zola Registry for a remote interview. The process started with a phone screen and then a 45-minute technical interview. This was my first technical interview, and I felt unprepared for the questions. I also felt the recruiter didn't provide much guidance on what to expect. After interviewing with other companies, I realized that recruiters usually do a better job of informing candidates about the interview structure.
- Can you describe a project you worked on and the difficulties you faced?
Front End Software Engineer
The interview process was great! It had 3 rounds total. There were technical, behavioral, and cultural interviews. It also included live coding with JavaScript and React problems. In the last round, I met multiple people from the company. Everyone was nice and the questions were tough but doable.
- Live coding challenges in React and JavaScript.
