First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Yankee Candle.
Store Associate
The interview process was good. The interviewer was kind and welcoming, making it a nice first interview experience for me as a teenager. I really appreciated their kindness. The interview took place within the mall. I recall some anxiety about the expectation of closing the store alone at my age.
- Can you describe your approach to closing the store by yourself?
Sales Associate
quick interview only lasted about 10 or so minutes, talk about previous experience, skills etc. not too formal, felt more chatty than an actual interview. was told how long i would wait to hear back but didn’t hear back
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
- What are your skills?
Sales Assistant
The interview was held in the back room and felt quite informal. They weren't overly friendly or chatty. I thought it went okay, but since I couldn't work around New Year's due to a holiday I'd already planned, I suspect that might have affected the outcome.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What's your availability like, especially during the holiday season?
- What do you like to do in your free time?
General Manager
So I had two interviews, one with the manager and one with the director. They asked a lot about how to boost sales and about employee incentive plans. Also, they wanted to know how I handle problem-solving with employees and a lot of 'what if' type questions. It did take a bit of time to hear back between the interview and getting the offer. They also mentioned being yourself and having a friendly interview is important.
- Questions about sales strategies.
- Questions about employee incentive plans.
- Questions about problem solving with employees.
