I got promoted internally from a 2nd ASM role. My boss, the GM, suggested I apply for the manager position at a different store. First, I spoke with the District Manager (DM). I talked about my management experience and shared some ideas I had for boosting sales and working with the team. Then, I met with the Regional Manager (RM). They asked me about my sales behaviors and how I approach different situations.

Applied online and got a call from the District Manager (DM) about 1-2 weeks later. I had to drive an hour for the interview with the DM. I got there 10 minutes early, but she wasn't there. The Store Manager at that location had me fill out a new application and a background check form. The DM finally showed up 20 minutes late, and the interview lasted about 30 minutes. They told me the background check could take up to a month. After two weeks, I called the DM to check on the status, and she said they hadn't received anything yet. I called again after four weeks, left a message, but got no callback. I called a fifth week because the job postings were gone, still no answer, so I left another message. I'm surprised they wouldn't call back to update me on the management position, either way.

Had a good interview with the Store Manager that lasted about an hour and a half. Then I waited for an hour at the mall for the District Manager to show up for the second interview. They called an hour after I left to tell me I got the job and that I was a great candidate.
