First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Woodward.
Intern
I got contacted after a career fair. The person who had invited me for an interview had to leave for a work call, so someone else conducted the interview. This interviewer seemed disengaged and in a hurry to finish, as they were eating during the conversation and seemed focused on wrapping up for the day. I was told I'd hear back about the outcome, but I never did.
- Can you describe a situation where a team member wasn't contributing their fair share, and how you handled it?
Compensation Analyst
I applied for the job and after five months of silence, they asked if I was still interested. I said yes, and then waited two more weeks for a response. When I finally interviewed, the interviewers were unprepared, thinking I had already been through prior interviews. I also discovered an hour in that I would report to the director, not the manager I thought I was interviewing with. They asked behavioral questions but didn't seem to know how to interpret the answers, with no follow-up questions. Then they reposted the job, rejected me, and gave no feedback. It felt like a really bad employer sell.
- Can you describe a situation where X happened and outline your response?
Sales Manager
Had an initial recruiter chat for about 20 minutes, then jumped on a Teams panel interview that went for over an hour with 4 people. The Teams interview was all about STAR method questions, and they hit me with 8 of them. The panel had 3 Sales Leaders and a Product Manager. The PM was cool and into it, but the others seemed kinda checked out, like they were just going through the motions. I got a vibe of some burnout which made me raise an eyebrow. All in all though, it was a good interview experience and helped me out for other calls I had.
- What's your approach to handling a challenging customer?
Talent Acquisition Partner
I interviewed for the Talent Acquisition Partner role at Woodward. Although I didn't get the job, I enjoyed talking with the team and finding out more about the company. The interview process was organized, and they communicated professionally and quickly. One thing that could be better is the time for candidate questions. They asked 12 STAR questions in 3 hours, which felt fast, and I only got to ask 3 questions. Giving candidates more time to ask questions would help them understand the job, team, and company better. This makes it more of a two-way street, which is good for everyone. Even though I got a decline email, I appreciated the Woodward team's professionalism and the chance to interview. I hope this helps improve the candidate experience.

The tx/rx byte was the most significant byte (MSB) of the 32-bit word at address 0x0400. You'd put your data byte in the MSB at 0x0400 to send, and reading the MSB at 0x0400 would get received data. A struct was made: struct uartRxTx { int RxTx : 8; int DontCare: 24; } uint32_t; What's the problem here?”
