First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at White Lodging.
Server
Super extensive, unnecessarily long, and did not get back in a timely manner. Took over a month from the first interview to the rejection. First made me do an online exam, then a phone interview with a recruiter from California. Then they made me go in person for an interview (consisted of three different people), but the main manager wasn't available so I had to go home and schedule another interview. Once the third interview was scheduled, the manager contacted me to say that he wanted to reschedule that interview. At this point we're going on three weeks. Then I go in for that interview, am asked five times if I have any questions even though I've already asked questions at my other 2 interviews. The interviewer tells me he'll get back to me for a drug screening (yes, a drug screening for a server job) and THEN I would be hired. Mind you, it's an outdoor job in the middle of Texas summer and they don't offer free parking. You have to find your own in downtown. The hiring manager also said I was at the top of the list to be hired. I received a rejection three weeks later.
- Tell me about a time you messed up at work and how you resolved it.
Supervisor
Typically, the first interview is with HR, then the second interview is with the General Manager of the hotel and the General Manager of your department. They'll ask about your experience, knowledge, and expertise in your area. Usually, you'll be asked to take a behavioral test to assess your attitude.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully persuaded an unhappy guest to return?
- Tell me about your experience, knowledge, and expertise in your area.
- Were you asked to complete a behavioral assessment to gauge your attitude?
Purchasing Manager
The entire process took about two weeks from application to hearing back. I applied online, then got a notification to do an assessment, which I completed. After that, I was told to schedule an interview and chose a date and time from the options provided. The interview was with HR. During the interview, I realized my skills and experience were more advanced than what the role required, so I decided not to move forward. The process so far was really smooth and quick. If they have other roles that are a better fit for my experience and skills in the future, I might apply again.
- What is your expected salary?
Maintenance Manager
They called me about 2 hours after I submitted my resume to set up an interview. We scheduled it, and then they emailed me to ask if we could do a virtual interview instead. On the day we were supposed to have the interview, they never showed up and then didn't respond to any of my emails. I waited 3 days, emailed them again about the position, and they emailed me back to say they had already filled the position.
- Did they show up to the interview?
