First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Weyerhaeuser.
Forester
It was a pretty standard interview process for a forestry job that involves working in the field. They asked a lot of questions about experience, education, and practical how-to scenarios. I'd say it was a bit tougher than other interviews I've had.
- Tell me about your time working outdoors.
- What hands-on experience do you have in forest environments?
- What did you study related to forestry?
Accountant
Before actually talking to anyone, they first required a video recorded, one-way interview. It was just me and the camera, no one else. It felt like a psychology experiment because I didn't know who my audience was, which is usually set by the greetings in a normal interview. I could re-record my answers as many times as I wanted, so I either recorded it and left it, or I kept editing myself over and over. Because if you can do it many times, you start to wonder if they expect perfection. Also, since I was talking to no one, it felt like I needed to be an actor and pretend. While this process may help them get through many candidates quickly, it doesn't seem like the best approach.

Intern
It was a zoom interview with personality questions. The interviewer was nice and it felt easy, nothing to be worried about. They asked about relocation before the job was offered. There wasn't an in-person interview, only zoom. They care about how you collaborate with others, how you tackle tough problems, and your people skills.
- Tell me about your experience working in a team.
- How do you approach and resolve challenging issues?
- Describe your interpersonal skills and how you interact with people.
Paralegal
I applied online and then got a call back a couple weeks later for a one-way video interview. It was basically me recording myself answer about 5 questions, which felt kind of weird but I actually liked it more than a live interview because I could think about my answers. Then about a week after that, the recruiter contacted me again to set up a 45-minute panel video interview. I was nervous because it was so long but I ended up enjoying it. I liked the people I spoke with and what they said about the company and the role. It felt like a conversation, not an interrogation. After that, I had two 1:1 calls with different people. I enjoyed those too and they told me I was one of two finalists and they'd decide soon. I thought I did well and figured I'd hear back soon. It's been 4 weeks now though, so I guess they ghosted me. It was a really nice experience until then, which is why I'm calling it neutral instead of positive. The process and people were professional and I was impressed, but being ghosted after all that time sucks. It's just common courtesy to let candidates know, especially after they've put in so much effort.
