Apprenti
I want to share my hiring experience. The welcome was very nice upon arrival: the person at reception clearly indicated the steps to follow, which immediately put me at ease. I was then quickly taken care of by a group professional, who took the time to answer all my questions and allay my concerns about the position. The interview itself was very complete: I really had someone in front of me who knew how to listen attentively and exchange constructively. It wasn't a rushed 20-minute interview, but a real exchange that allowed me to better understand the position and the work environment, despite my professional commitments on the side. Overall, I have a very positive impression of this process and the attention paid to each candidate.
- What led you to specialize in the BTP field?
Engineer
It was a really casual chat with two people, lasting about an hour. It was in person. They asked about six questions covering different areas like situational judgment, teamwork, initiative, and business sense. They also wanted to know about how I work with others and if I'd be okay with moving for different projects.
- Can you talk about your experience?
- Describe a project you've worked on.
- What was your university experience like?
Electrical Design Engineer
The recruiter asked about my professional project (electrical design engineer in the energy transition), my commute (train+bike), and my previous salary. After this, they were supposed to schedule an interview with the technical manager. I didn't hear back for six weeks, so I followed up in mid-August. The response was annoying: 'sorry, I forgot to reply. Honestly, I didn't get your professional project (Vinci isn't known for its eco-values...), plus you need to have your own car for business travel... oh and you're too expensive after all!' A company to avoid given how they treat candidates!
- Could you tell me about your career aspirations?
- How do you get to work?
- What was your previous salary?
Automation Engineer
The interview was scheduled a week in advance, but on the day, nobody showed up. I had to reach out to the person in charge. Then, it was rescheduled for lunchtime at 12 PM (it was supposed to be at 10 AM, but the person 'forgot' to schedule me properly). Barely had the online interview started, and the person in charge already made assumptions about me that are the opposite of my personality. I politely tried to explain and speak calmly, answering the questions, but she was so impatient that the interview didn't even last 20 minutes. The company needs to be careful about demanding a lot from its candidates, but not having a technical person in the interview to see how the approach of an employee, who is theoretically an expert in the subject, is aggressive, which happened without any need.
