First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at VCA.
Hospital Manager
A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn. After that, I met in person with some of the higher-ups and the medical director. The conversation was mostly about my work history. They asked some interesting questions, but it wasn't super tough overall.
- Can you discuss your professional experience?
- What unique value do you believe you can offer our hospital?
Product Manager
The process was simple with just one interview with the Director. However, I got fully ghosted after the process despite a follow-up. I firmly believe if you speak to a candidate live, you owe them an update even when it is a no. I would not consider applying again in the future.
- Can you tell me about a feature you developed and its resulting impact?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process involved both a phone call and an in-person meeting, which were both pretty straightforward. They asked some general interview questions and also did a background check. Everything moved really fast, and I got an email with the results and accepted the offer all within a few days.
- How do you approach scheduling and managing the atmosphere in your workspace?
- Can you describe your experience handling escalations and high-pressure situations?
Client Services Representative
The initial interview with VCA went well and left me feeling optimistic. However, the following process was incredibly frustrating. I was told I'd hear back the next Wednesday, but that day came and went. Then Friday, then the next Wednesday, then another week. This continued for nearly a month. I followed up regularly, being reassured the hiring process was still ongoing. I was even told I “hadn’t been denied yet,” giving me false hope. Week after week, I was promised a call that never came. It felt like I was being strung along. "Admin week" was constantly cited as a reason for delay, every single week. Finally, when I called again during the week they once again promised to follow up, I was told via the receptionist that "an email was sent". That "email" was nothing more than an automated Workday application update stating I was not selected, received at 12:55 AM. No formal rejection, no closure, just weeks of vague, inconsistent communication and unfulfilled promises. This disorganized and frankly disrespectful hiring process makes me question the company's internal stability and professionalism. If you can’t uphold basic communication and transparency during the interview phase, what does that say about the organization itself? If you're not going to hire someone, just say so, don't waste their time and energy with empty reassurances. I didn't want to write this review because the managers seemed sweet and optimistic, but I needed to vent. I’m disappointed. Even if writing this affects my chances with future openings, I felt it was important to speak honestly.
- What would your references say about you?
