It was a pretty straightforward interview. I met with four interviewers in a conference room. They asked typical questions, but then threw in a couple about specialized science equipment that wasn't even mentioned in the job description, which caught me off guard. The interviewers didn't seem super engaged and didn't appear to have reviewed my resume. They said I'd hear back in two days, but it actually took over a week to find out I didn't get the job.

I sent in my application online, and then got a message back a couple of weeks after the deadline. Since I wasn't in the UK, they asked me to do an online talk. I had about a week to get ready for this online presentation where I had to talk about my research and also give a mock lecture on a topic they assigned. It all went pretty smoothly.

It was a three-step process. The second step involved an in-person interview and a presentation. I talked about my career and why I'd be a good fit. They also asked me technical questions about the field. I met with a panel of about 8 team members. It seemed intimidating, but they were really nice. They called me back for a second interview because they couldn't decide between me and another person.

It was a presentation followed by a Q&A session. The interview panel included one industry supervisor and two academic supervisors (the main PI and the co-PI). They asked about my project plan, my future research interests, and my knowledge of current techniques and methods in the field. There were also questions about the basic characteristics of the problem and some coding questions.
