They'll be upfront about availability, onsite stuff, and the long hours—UWM is clear on this. Then, there's a technical interview. For tech jobs, it's practical stuff, not just theory. Think real-world problems, troubleshooting, owning systems, and how you deal with pressure. They want to know about outages or production issues you've handled, not just the tools you know. They also really check for culture fit, emphasizing the 'team-first,' high-energy, performance-driven vibe at UWM. Expect questions like how you handle fast demands, feedback, or if you can succeed in a structured, metrics-driven place. It's direct, efficient, and no-nonsense. Interviews are usually on time, structured, and move fast. If they like you, they decide quickly, sometimes in days. Overall, it's professional and intense but straightforward. Good if you like pace, accountability, and clear expectations, maybe not so much if you prefer slow and flexible.

The whole thing was super fast, like I applied online and heard back from UWM the very next day to set up a phone screen. That happened two days later and they were really clear about what would happen next. Then I had an in-person interview with the team lead and the VP of People. They let me know when I'd hear about an offer and they actually stuck to their timeline. It took exactly a month from applying to getting the offer. The company culture just wasn't for me though, so I didn't accept.

The next interview was in person at the Pontiac office. It started with the recruiter giving a tour of the building and its facilities. Then, I met with three people from the team: the hiring manager and two co-workers. I had to give a presentation about a project from my portfolio. The rest of the time was for regular interview questions and getting to know each other. It wasn't too hard, and there weren't any tricky questions. Everyone was nice and seemed interested.

So, in the HR interview, they wanna get a feel for who you are, what makes you tick, your personality, and if you'd vibe with the company culture. A common starter is 'Tell me about yourself' -- you should give a quick rundown of your work history, hit on the skills and wins that matter for this gig, and just show you're excited about it. When they ask 'Why do you want to work with us?', make sure it's clear you've done your homework on the company and that your own career goals line up with what they're about, their stuff, or their vibe. Questions about your good and bad points are to see how self-aware and honest you are. For strengths, pick stuff that's actually useful for the job and give examples. For weaknesses, mention something you're working on getting better at, showing you're all about growing. They might also hit you with questions about your future plans, like 'Where do you see yourself in five years?'
