Business Development Representative
My first screening interview with the hiring manager went really well, great guy. However, I chose to withdraw after the second interview. It was clear that the business development team wasn’t interested in understanding me as a person or the experiences that shaped my career path. When I shared my background in competitive sports, a common driver of competitiveness and motivation in sales, they cut me off and said they “didn’t need to hear about that,” preferring to stick to generic, surface level interview questions. The way a company interviews tells you a lot about its culture, and based on that interaction, I decided not to move forward.

The interview process included an initial recruiter call, a technical interview, a culture fit interview, and then a final interview with the Software Engineering Director. The whole thing was pretty quick and smooth, no take-home project which was great. It was my best interview experience since I got to Canada. They were really respectful of my time and still managed to check if I was a good fit. I think I might have messed up the last interview with the Director though. I talked too much about general stuff about the company instead of specifics about the actual job. My advice if you're going for this role: make sure to ask super specific questions about the job when you talk to the Director.

Account Development Representative
So I interviewed with TouchBistro for a role, and it was kinda mixed. The team I talked to was pretty cool and professional, they knew their stuff and gave me a good vibe about the job and company. But after that, when it came to getting feedback or hearing back, it was a mess. They said I'd hear from them, but it took forever to get a response, even after I followed up. When I finally got an email, it was bad news – they found better candidates. The email itself was also really rude, which was a bummer after the nice chat I had with the team. It felt unprofessional and not how they acted during the interview. I hope they fix their communication because a good interview can be ruined by bad follow-up. You should be careful with them.
- Can you tell me about your experience with cold calling?
- What's your recent experience as a customer at a full-service restaurant?
IOS Developer
So I went through the interview process for this role. It had 5 interviews plus a technical challenge, which I thought was a bit much and took over a month to complete. I did like talking to everyone though, they were all nice and seemed to really want to find the right person. But at the end, the director said I passed everything and wanted to talk about compensation, which made me think I'd get an offer. But then it went quiet for a week, which was annoying and unprofessional. Then I got a rejection email saying I was too junior, which they should have known from my resume. It felt like a waste of time. They reposted the job after, so it wasn't like someone else was just way better. It was all about my experience. So yeah, nice people and culture, but the communication breakdown and the late realization about my experience made the process not great. They should be more transparent and faster.
