Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TouchBistro.
Account Executive
It was a long and dragged out process that took 6 weeks. The first interview was with the recruiter. Then, there was a second interview with 2 managers. One of the managers was on his phone the whole time without apologizing or acknowledging it. The questions were typical. Next steps took about two weeks, and I had to follow up for a response. At this point, I was required to do a reference check before moving forward. The third interview was a presentation about myself and previous roles with the same two managers and a territory manager. The same individual was on his phone again, with no apology, etc. I never heard back and had to email again to hear about the decision.
- Can you explain how your previous experience relates to the restaurant industry?
- As a top performer, why are you seeking to leave your current role?
- Could you describe your current sales process?
Account Executive
I got to the second round out of 4 total, which included an in-person interview. The second interview was with two sales managers, and they were both very nice. It was a good experience overall.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Touch Bistro?
Account Executive
There were 3 interviews in total. The first one was with the recruiter, then the hiring manager via Zoom. Those went fine. The third interview involved giving a PowerPoint presentation to two sales managers, followed by a barrage of aggressive questions. It felt like they were having a bad month and taking it out on me. A lot of what they asked had already been covered in the first two interviews. The tone was very aggressive, and I felt they needed to dial it back, especially considering I had 20 years of sales experience, 5 of which were with their top competitor. Also, if someone has experience with a partnership you're trying to secure, it's important to actually listen to their insights rather than blindly accepting what the partnership is telling you. Because of this experience, I withdrew my application.
- Why don’t you go back to your old competitor and get your job?
- I need you to be willing to work evenings and Saturdays without me having to ask.
