The interview process kicked off with a Hackerrank problem, which I found to be the toughest part. Next up was a 30-minute behavioral chat with a recruiter where we discussed the company, my interests, and why I applied. The final round involved talking with two software engineers from Tock. They were great at making me feel at ease, not like I was being constantly scrutinized. It felt more like a collaborative discussion on problem-solving approaches. This positive interaction with the SWEs was a major factor in my decision to accept their internship offer over others because I felt I could really grow professionally here, which was my main goal.

Behavioral Presentation Case

The interview process took over a month and was a terrible experience. It started with a 30-minute recruiter call, followed by a 30-minute manager interview a week later. Then, three separate 30-minute interviews happened the week after that. The process also included two projects. I was initially told about a 30-minute panel call to give a high-level overview of Tock, gather information, and demonstrate the service. However, after prepping for 48 hours and creating a slide deck, the project turned into a 10-minute, single-person cold call. I even confirmed the project details with the recruiter beforehand. I gave the overview anyway, but was frustrated. The manager's feedback was that I was 'too robust,' and I felt like I self-sabotaged. I was disappointed that the time spent on the project could have been used elsewhere. I also spent 8 hours on Memorial Day listening to CEO podcasts, researched Tock extensively, and drove an hour to take a photo at a restaurant for an initial cold-emailing project. Despite going above and beyond, I was ghosted and never received a rejection or any follow-up.

Behavioral Other

I saw the Associate Account Manager job at Tock on LinkedIn and applied on their website. A recruiter from Tock contacted me about a week later, and we had an initial phone call the next day. After that, I had three 30-minute Zoom interviews with people from Tock, including managers, directors, and members of the account management team. The interviews were focused on my general background and skills, what I'm looking for in a company and role, and how I want to grow and be supported. It felt like they were genuinely interested in me, not just testing my ability to answer common questions. They were all very open and honest about their own experiences, both good and bad, at the company. It's clear they value passionate people with diverse backgrounds, rather than just a standard skill set.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a four-part interview process, which was timely but took a bit longer. The first part was a screener with the recruiter. Then, a phone conference call with the team lead and department manager was the second interview. The third interview involved a two-part Zoom call: one with the director of the department and another separate conference with sales leads. The final interview was a demo prospecting call. Everyone was really timely, engaged, and enthusiastic about the company. HR and recruiters were super quick to set up the next steps, and the whole thing took about 2.5 to 3 weeks.
