The interview process kicked off with a Hackerrank problem, which I found to be the toughest part. Next up was a 30-minute behavioral chat with a recruiter where we discussed the company, my interests, and why I applied. The final round involved talking with two software engineers from Tock. They were great at making me feel at ease, not like I was being constantly scrutinized. It felt more like a collaborative discussion on problem-solving approaches. This positive interaction with the SWEs was a major factor in my decision to accept their internship offer over others because I felt I could really grow professionally here, which was my main goal.

The interview journey kicked off with a quick 15-minute chat with a recruiter. Soon after, within about a week, I had a technical interview with a front end engineer from Tock. We went over my past projects, I tackled a small React.js coding challenge (making an add-to-cart button with a quantity selector), and we chatted about Tock, with them answering my questions. The recruiter followed up within another week to set up the final interviews. This last stage involved five separate 30-45 minute interviews with different software engineers and the engineering director. Two of these interviews focused on React.js/HTML/CSS coding tasks, one involved a general algorithm problem I could solve in any language (like a LeetCode easy), another explored web architecture concepts, specifically the events involved when a browser requests a webpage. The final interviewer mostly answered my remaining questions and shared more about Tock. Overall, it was a really nice experience!

I went through the whole process: recruiter call, a 45-minute technical interview, and then five more 45-minute interviews that were a mix of behavioral and technical. Honestly, I'm really disappointed with how Tock handled things. The recruiter spent an hour talking about the STAR method and how to interview, even though I have 8 years of experience. The technical interviews were confusing because they kept asking me backend questions and focusing on databases, despite me being a frontend engineer. During one interview, the director of engineering was mostly typing and didn't engage much, even when I tried to make conversation. It's been weeks, and I haven't heard anything back, which is a huge letdown considering how the recruiter and the company managed the process.
