Analyst
This interview felt pretty straightforward, mostly looking for skills and examples from my past work. I think I did a good job, and they even said my answers were thoughtful and I handled follow-ups well. But, the vibe was a bit off. The interviewer seemed kinda checked out, not super interested, which made me not want to ask my own questions. I heard some quiet talking, and it felt like they were getting annoyed. Even though I was really keen on the company, I got a rejection pretty quickly. I still think it's a good place to work though. My only thought is that interviewers should try to be more into it and friendly, especially with candidates who are really trying and prepared.

Systems Engineer
I applied online and the hiring manager got back to me within a week. They scheduled an interview that included a skills assessment and a presentation I had to give. I spent several hours preparing the presentation and more time on the assessment. It was a panel interview with 3 people, pretty standard. I was told within two days that an offer would be extended. My salary expectation was in the application, but the offer was about 30k lower than my requested range. They wouldn't budge, saying the benefits were good. I declined, frustrated by the low offer after putting in so much work. They should check applicant requirements before starting the process to save everyone time and money.
- How would you manage a situation where two stakeholders disagree on the desired system design?
Member of Technical Staff
I went through two 30-minute phone screens that were set up by email. One was with the hiring manager for the team I'd be interviewing with if I moved forward, and the other was with a technical recruiter. Both people were really nice and easy to talk to. I think I did okay in the phone screens, but ultimately, I wasn't picked for an onsite interview. They let me know through a phone voicemail and an email.
- The technical recruiter inquired about my availability and asked for my salary expectations, wanting a specific number.
- The engineering hiring manager did not ask any technical questions. Instead, they focused on my resume and experience related to the role.
- They also wanted to confirm my comfort level with the hybrid work arrangements and the travel obligations associated with the position.
Administrative Assistant
I first had a phone chat with a recruiter which went great. Then, they set up an in-person interview with the hiring manager and a team lead. A second manager joined by phone. The team lead greeted me and mentioned the hiring manager was running late. We had a nice chat. The hiring manager eventually showed up and seemed in a bad mood. He was arrogant and curt, even rolling his eyes. He told me the 'right' answer to one of my responses. It was a very strange experience, and I no longer felt the job was a perfect fit. I was told I was the last candidate and they'd let me know within the week. The hiring manager said he'd send his contact info for questions. I waited a week, heard nothing. The hiring manager never sent his info, so I messaged the recruiter. No reply. Another week passed, still nothing. I messaged the recruiter again. Still nothing. A third time, and still no response. I took a half-day for this interview, was one of three finalists, and they ghosted me. Fourteen months later, HR sent a generic email saying I wasn't selected.
- How would you handle a situation with two competing deadlines where both cannot be met?
- What is the correct answer to the question about conflicting deadlines?
