Applications Engineer
I applied for an Applications Engineer position in Surveillance Systems, a field-based role in England with up to 50% travel, conducted over MS Teams. I felt my experience was a strong match for the job description. Shortly after applying, I was contacted to schedule a 30-minute interview focusing on my career aspirations, experience, and the role itself. The interviewer started about 5 minutes late and seemed to have trouble grasping my motivation to get back to hands-on equipment work. They were very persistent about my salary expectations, demanding my bottom line without any context about my experience or the company's compensation structure. I believe they likely misunderstood my expected salary as just salary, not full compensation, due to the lack of information provided. I dislike companies that demand salary expectations without sharing any details about their hiring budget or compensation structure. The interview felt one-sided and unfair. While I did receive a lot of information about the role and the team, which sounded interesting, I didn't get the sense that later interview rounds would be less rushed. Ultimately, I was rejected without a clear explanation. Despite prompt communication earlier, I never received the feedback I requested to help me improve. The entire interview felt rushed and the interviewer was overly pushy, creating pressure rather than a collaborative environment to assess mutual fit. This pressure, unlike customer-facing pressure which is part of my job, felt inappropriate for an interview setting. My experience has made me reconsider applying for another role within the same company.

Electronic Engineer
The interview process at Teledyne Energetics involved two friendly Engineers. It was mostly about experience and technical knowledge, with very few behavioral questions. Overall, it was a good experience, though the job listing requirements differed from the interview expectations.

Program Manager
So, this was a 3-stage interview process. I was a bit iffy because I hadn't really held a 'Senior' PM role before, but the Sr. PM interviewing me was sure I had what it takes. Since I lived far away, I trusted them and went for round 2 with Senior Management. I ended up talking face-to-face with 4 different people for over 2 hours. Turns out, I didn't get picked because I didn't know enough about revenue recognition, especially ASC606. They told me I would have made it to round 3 with the GM and CEO if I had brushed up on ASC606. Two weeks later, they confirmed it was all about my revenue recognition knowledge. I spent over $120 to go to an interview where I knew my chances were slim, but listening to the SMEs pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, only to be told they don't want to train someone on a core financial process.
- How familiar are you with revenue recognition, and ASC606 in particular?
Senior Auditor
Sharing my experience interviewing for a Senior Auditor role. I think 'rejection is protection,' especially in this tough job market. The interview was conducted via zoom with two interviewers. It felt disorganized, with questions passed back and forth, making it hard to follow. Their questions weren’t direct, and I could tell my answers weren’t hitting the mark. I was tired and found it hard to engage. A significant part of my experience was the behavior of one interviewer from LA, who rolled her eyes multiple times. I was taken aback by the lack of professionalism, which really demotivated me and caused me to stutter. I wish everyone better luck and a better experience.
