Behavioral Technical Coding

The initial interview was basic behavioral. The second interview was with the CTO. After that, I was given a take-home project with a video explanation of the code, which took about 8 hours. I was then offered an internship. When I declined the internship and expressed interest in a full-time role, I was told I'd need to interview with a React developer. This interview included an hour discussing React and a 30-minute coding challenge where I struggled with time/space complexity. A few days later, I was informed I didn't get the full-time position. It was frustrating to invest so much time with no feedback, especially since it seemed geared towards internships rather than full-time hires.

It was a super confusing interview. Started with just small talk about the weather, then it went straight into a bunch of situational questions, back to back. Some questions didn't seem to have anything to do with the actual job skills needed, while others were clearly about seeing if I'd fit the company culture. They literally had the questions written on the back of my resume, and the way they asked them felt like they were just going through the motions to check an HR box. I only spent maybe 5% of the time talking about my current role and how it could help with their ongoing projects. I ended up not learning much about the company or why it's a great place to work. If they offer me the job, I'll have to really think about it.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was in-depth and I was always informed about the next step. It started with a recruiter call to get to know each other. If I was a potential candidate, the recruiter would schedule me for the first in-person interview at their NYC headquarters, which happened the very next day. The first interview was with the recruiter and a sales production manager. They asked generic questions and it was mostly a great conversation, letting me speak freely to understand if I'd be a good consultant. I asked many questions about the sales structure and they were answered in depth. I also had to do a mock phone call selling a luxury item. I then had a second interview a week later with the VP of Sales, which was similar but without the mock phone call. The key is to hold a conversation, show genuine interest, and explain why you'd be a great employee. Researching the company beforehand is recommended to help the conversation. The morning after my second interview, I received a verbal offer from the recruiter and accepted. The company is growing fast and looks promising!

The job posting was misleading; they claimed it wasn't cold calling, but the CRO said I'd have to make about 100 calls daily. They provide about 5 warm leads, which is why they don't call it cold calling. I wouldn't have wasted my time if I'd known it was a cold calling center and not a financial consulting firm. The selling floor is all cubicles, with about 150 people wearing headsets. The CRO mentioned people work from 10 AM to 8 PM, and successful employees come in on weekends. The interview involved meeting the CRO, who seemed arrogant, and the main interview was on the selling floor.
