First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Strategic Financial Solutions.
Sales Consultant
The job posting was misleading; they claimed it wasn't cold calling, but the CRO said I'd have to make about 100 calls daily. They provide about 5 warm leads, which is why they don't call it cold calling. I wouldn't have wasted my time if I'd known it was a cold calling center and not a financial consulting firm. The selling floor is all cubicles, with about 150 people wearing headsets. The CRO mentioned people work from 10 AM to 8 PM, and successful employees come in on weekends. The interview involved meeting the CRO, who seemed arrogant, and the main interview was on the selling floor.
- Can you try to sell me a luxury item?
- Tell me about someone you look up to.
- How do you handle rejection, particularly when you face it 100 times a day?
Sales Consultant
I got to the office 10 mins early for my interview. The secretary was super nice, gave me water and I sat down. My recruiter came and took me to a small room by the lobby. We had a really chill chat, the recruiter took their time getting to know me. It felt more like a conversation than an interview. They really wanted to get a sense of my personality and see if I'd fit in and if I could hold a conversation. I read other interview experiences where people felt rushed and couldn't ask questions, but this recruiter let me interject questions and then at the end, I got to ask as many as I wanted. After the recruiter, I met with a sales manager. He was also great, he gave me a full overview and asked about my goals and why I was interested in strategic roles. He also let me ask tons of questions until I had no more. I got a call the next day from the recruiter with an offer and I accepted. I'm really excited to start my career at this company. I mentioned I'm focused on career growth, and they both assured me hard work is rewarded.

I applied on Indeed and got an email asking me to do a personality test and some kind of aptitude test. Then, a day later, I had a phone interview with a recruiter, which was just a basic chat about my experience and why I want to work there. They then scheduled an in-person interview for after the weekend. The office is in a great spot in Midtown East, close to Grand Central, and everyone seemed really happy. The sales folks looked and acted like they were doing well financially and mentally. It's clear that company culture is important, and they even encourage having friends within the organization. I met with the VP first, who was a very direct and no-nonsense person. Honestly, she was the most direct interviewer I've ever encountered, which was a little intimidating. I wasn't sure what she thought of my answers because she didn't show any obvious reactions. After that, I met with the recruiter, who was a pleasure to talk to. We had a casual conversation where he got a sense of how I'd fit into the office culture. He was really nice and down-to-earth. I was impressed that all the advertised job benefits were actually true, unlike some companies that exaggerate. I was very pleased with the company, the job itself, and the benefits. The next morning, I got a verbal offer over the phone at 10 am, followed by a written offer and a background check authorization form by noon.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated integrity at work.
- Describe a mistake you made at work and how you corrected it.
- In your opinion, what qualities are needed to succeed in this role?
