The interview was super fast, honestly I'm not even sure it was legit cause they didn't even look at my resume or know any details. I did accept the offer, but I'm still a bit suspicious it might be a scam.

I interviewed with the store manager initially, but she explained that she couldn't conduct the interview for the role I applied for, and the district manager (DM) would need to. She mentioned the DM was out of state interviewing someone else for the same job. The manager then tried to get me to accept a merchandise manager position instead, which came with a significant pay cut. I had to wait a month to speak with the DM, and after that, another two weeks for my background check to clear. It was a really drawn-out process.

Steinmart's interview process began with two phone interviews, then moved to an on-site meeting with the merchandising team. I did my homework, researching the company, its financials, and other materials to show how I could help their categories. Steinmart's Vision and Mission statements emphasize respect and collaboration. Having been a Category Manager and Buyer for two well-regarded retailers, I was eager to join Steinmart. However, early on, the intimate apparel manager seemed to imply I lacked the necessary business experience because I came from a different industry, much like assuming a woman wouldn't know about car mechanics just by walking into an auto parts store. Despite my efforts to explain how I've consistently revitalized underperforming categories by focusing on the customer and using data to predict trends and introduce unique products, it felt like I was talking to a wall. Furthermore, her poor manners and apparent lack of interest in showing respect were evident. I decided to withdraw from the process, questioning why I should engage with individuals driven by ego or who threaten others, hindering the creation of a healthy business that fosters connections between buyers and sellers.

The interview process was a long process, mainly because I lived out of state. I interviewed with the district manager first for what I thought was a assistant mangers position. I received a phone call from the store manager to do a phone interview for a department manager position. Then I interviewed in person with the store. After three interviews I was offered the position.
