First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shred-it International.
Sales Executive
It started with a phone interview with the District Sales Manager, which I felt went pretty well and was relatively easy. The next step was an in-person interview with two male managers: the District Sales Manager and the Regional Sales Manager. This was a very intimidating live interview. Some questions were predictable, but others were tough. These guys were all business, so there wasn't much room for small talk or showing my personality. I really wanted this job and thought I was prepared, but I realized I wasn't quite as ready as I needed to be. The interview lasted about 45 minutes, and I was glad when it finally ended. This was my first interview in three years.
- What are your former boss's key descriptors for you?
- What is your understanding of our company?
- Describe your preference for teamwork versus individual work and the reasoning behind it.
Account Manager
I had three interviews, one with an RVP and two with DSMs, plus a field day. It was a four-day commitment. It seemed really promising, but their communication is terrible. Two of the interviewers are quite new to the company. I knew I was at a disadvantage because there was an internal candidate. I found out later they went with someone else. My last interview with the RVP was so unprofessional, I can't recall experiencing anything like it in my 28 years. I'm still waiting to hear back from them as a courtesy.
- Tell me about typical CSS questions.
Sales Representative
I have never met a bigger (word I can’t say on glassdoor) hole in my professional life than the one interviewing me for this role. I usually get along with everyone, but this guy was a real (word that I can’t say on glassdoor). I hope to warn others about this toxic company. I should have walked out. He was incredibly demeaning and insulting... I guess he was venting his inner frustrations about being a middle-aged guy that shreds paper for a living?
- Can you tell me your high school GPA?
- Could you share about your family life growing up?
Project Coordinator
Applied online and got a quick call from the Director who wanted to schedule an interview for the next day at 9 am. It was a panel of three interviews. The first was with one interviewer focusing on general fit and behavioral questions, like asking for examples of multitasking or presentation experience. Then, another interviewer gave a hands-on Excel test involving vlookups, AND statements, and pivot tables, and also asked about server experience and other tech-related questions. The last interviewer asked general questions about teamwork and work ethics. The team seems great! After the interviews, they sent a personality test to complete at home.
- Regarding the saying 'you can catch more bees with honey than vinegar,' which do you identify with more, and can you share an experience to illustrate?
