First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shane Co..
Jewelry Consultant
First, there's a pre-interview chat with HR. After that, you'll connect with the store management of the place you're applying to. If it's a management role, you might also speak with the district manager.
- What are your strategies for managing multiple customer interactions at the same time?
Sales
The interview experience started off great, with screening from a recruiter, a Shane Co talent manager, and the Store Manager. I was excited about the questions about my background. However, I was pushed to apply for management when I only wanted to do sales. Initially, everyone seemed on board with moving forward. After discussing position availability with the talent manager, the role was suddenly filled. I felt misled, like my application was sidelined because they'd rather have me in a leadership role. This left a bad impression and felt like a waste of time. I was forced into applying for a management position despite clearly stating my lack of interest, using the job market as leverage. The interview with the store manager was pleasant, but she repeatedly stressed the importance of punctuality for shifts. I was on time for my interview and waited about 10 minutes. She seemed concerned about my commute, noting my 10+ years of management experience. This was my first impression of the company and its operations. As a customer, I'm certain I wouldn't make any significant jewelry purchases here.

Sales Associate
After submitting my online application, I was invited in following a personality assessment. I spoke with a woman about my relevant people and sales experience, as well as life experience. I received a rejection without explanation. Based on what I observed in the waiting room, I got the impression this is a micro-managed, ageist organization that likely doesn't value or trust its employees.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Shane Company?
Assistant Manager
So I talked to a recruiter first, then met with a local team. That recruiter actually interviewed me twice, for two positions, over about two weeks. I got an offer, but I turned it down because the negotiation felt really stuck. It felt like managers couldn't really help their staff out, more like they were enforcers than leaders.
- Can you tell me about your experience with clientelling?
