First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shane Co..
Customer Service Representative
I was really impressed and honestly delighted to speak with all 4 of those with whom I interviewed! The first 2 interviews were virtual/zoom and the last 2 were in person at their San Mateo location. Turns out something else came along however, I can say that based on my experience and how I felt after speaking with each of the interviewers, it's a great place to work! It's a people place and I'm a people person with a keen eye and heart for excellent customer service. I can tell Shane really puts people first and values their staff. I'm not an employee but I will for sure be a customer from here on! I say that based on the dedication that clearly, each person I met has. Thanks for reviving my hope in private companies and for treating people well!
- How would you handle a disagreement between coworkers?
Customer Service Associate
ShaneCo takes their hiring process very seriously and wants to find the perfect fit for the job. I had a phone interview and two in person interviews. In total, I interviewed with 5 different people. They knew that I had to drive over an hour for each interview, and the same questions/topics were discussed in each interview. I have a bachelor's degree, six years of retail experience, and a professional appearance and personality. Yet, I felt like I was on trial during these interviews. The staff was somewhat friendly, but I was asked many unnecessary and irrelevant questions about the inner workings of the previous company I worked for. I appreciate the effort ShaneCo goes through to find the perfect employee, but I felt uncomfortable during the interview.
- What did you dislike about your previous job?
Customer Service Representative
I watched 7 videos about gems and did 2 pages of research before the interview. The interview itself was very short, about 3-5 minutes. They told me they had already decided to offer me the job but would let me know later. This was at a hiring event that continued for hours after I left. The event page said there were 33 attendees. They didn't ask me any questions to get to know me or to help me learn more about them. It seemed like some things might have gone wrong before I arrived. (As a side note to the company, the shane co YouTube page for education needs work. I watched a 40 second video about a pearl rolling. In education. Having videos about the 101 pages on the shane co website would be far more educational.)
- Can you work nights and weekends?
