First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sberbank.
C++ Developer
It was mostly basic questions about C/C++ and memory management, including fragmentation and smart pointers. We also covered BOOST and SQL. A lot of the interview focused on RAII and multithreading, like mutexes, threads, atomics, and deadlocks. There were also behavioral questions, such as 'What would you do if you had this kind of problem?'
- Can you explain memory management and its current programming approaches?
- Tell me about memory management in C++.
Product Manager
Had a zoom call with the manager to discuss product matters, my past experiences, and my future aspirations and what I'm looking for. Mostly, the manager did the talking, with me getting maybe 15-20 minutes to speak. I feel like I could get an offer if I wanted, but since I don't, I wasn't super engaged. Felt like I'd pass if I wanted to, but I don't so that's why I think it was not so interested.
- Can you share your experience from previous roles?
Software Developer
So the interview kicked off with me talking about my background, then I had to do this coding challenge where I optimized a SQL query. After that, they wanted me to talk about REST vs GraphQL APIs, like, what's good and bad about each. Then came the fun part where I had to architect a whole e-commerce platform, making sure it could handle a lot of traffic and the database was speedy. It ended with some questions about working with others, hitting deadlines, and being flexible, which was a decent mix of techy and soft skill stuff.
- Could you differentiate between REST and GraphQL APIs, detailing the benefits and drawbacks of each?
- What strategies can you employ to enhance the performance of an underperforming SQL query?
- Explain the function of garbage collection in languages such as Java and Python, including its operational mechanisms and constraints.
Business Development Manager
The interview process was very long, it lasted for 2 months and had 6 rounds which were unnecessary and repetitive. After all this, they offered a job with a pay cut. This company seems confused and unprofessional. They knew my salary from the start but still wasted my time. They also rescinded an offer for someone just two days before they were supposed to join, leaving them unemployed. Be very careful before joining. Also, the interviewers from India were very aggressive and hard to work with.
- Why are you interested in sales?
- Could you describe your job role?
