First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
Librarian
Got a text about a week after applying to set up an interview. The panel had an HR person and three other people. The questions weren't super tough, but the panel seemed disengaged, like they already had someone in mind. I asked a question, and the HR person misunderstood it, thinking I was questioning my own qualifications instead of asking about the role. Didn't appreciate the response.
- Could you share your background and experience?
Technical Editor
It was a casual interview, lasting about 30 minutes. I met with the manager, his director, and a colleague from another team. The atmosphere was relaxed, and it took place in the downtown Aiken SRNS building. They asked standard interview questions, and I got an offer over the phone a few days later.
- Tell me about a time you had a favorite work win or a moment you were proud of at a previous job.
Software Engineer
The interview was a Round Table Teams Meeting with 4-5 people from the company. They discussed my experience with different vendor software, what makes a good team, and leadership styles. I was asked to share multiple SOARS stories about leadership, results, championing change, and intelligent risk-taking.
- How would you describe your leadership style?
Engineer
After applying, I had a phone interview pretty soon after. Then, they scheduled an on-site interview and covered all my travel expenses, including a rental car and a nice hotel. The interview itself was pretty relaxed, lasted about 30 minutes, and then I toured the site. I got an offer not long after that. It was a really good experience overall.
- Can you discuss your past projects?
- What activities do you pursue in your free time?
- Which courses did you find most interesting?
