First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sartorius.
Intern
First up is a one-way video interview. After you get the confirmation email, you’ll have five days to complete it. You can take as much time as you need to think between questions, but you'll have two minutes to answer each question on video. The questions are pretty general, like: 'Why would you be chosen as an intern?'
- What's your approach to solving new technical problems?
- How do you motivate yourself to work?
- What experience do you have in the lab and in various work areas?
Account Manager
I applied for a Field Account Manager job at Sartorius and had 5 interviews spread out over 3 months. In the last interview, the manager said I might also fit the Bioprocess Solution Field Account Manager role. HR then asked for my ID, which made me think an offer was coming. But then there was radio silence for over two weeks. I had to chase them twice for an update. The first time, they said they were still waiting on the manager's decision. Soon after, I got a short email saying I didn't get the job, with no reason or feedback. When I called HR, they said they picked someone who speaks Dutch. But it was clear from the start Dutch wasn't a must-have, and I even said I was willing to learn it, which they liked. Changing the requirements so late in a 3-month process is really questionable. For the other role they suggested, they went with an internal candidate. That job is still listed months later. It was a poorly managed, inconsistent, and unclear process. Five interviews over three months just to get vague reasons and poor communication shows a recruitment process that's way too long and internally uncoordinated. It makes you question the company's professionalism and how they make decisions.
- What basic questions were asked, as is typical?
Project Manager
The interview at Sartorius AG started with a brief introduction of ourselves and an overview of the company and the department. Then, I walked through my professional background, highlighting specific examples from my project management experience. We then discussed technical aspects like project methodologies, stakeholder management, and planning for time and risks. Another part focused on my work style, soft skills, and how I'd fit into the company culture. Finally, I had the chance to ask my own questions and got information about the next steps in the selection process.
- Could you detail a project where you were fully in charge?
- How do you manage projects with strict timelines and evolving requirements?
- Which project management methods do you favor and what's your reasoning?
Senior Systems Engineer
The process was pretty smooth. Started with a one-way video interview, which was a bit odd and impersonal but fine. Then there was a panel interview with SME managers from different areas like software and mechanical. The panel interviewers didn't seem super experienced or maybe they had trouble communicating, but the hiring manager kept things moving. Responses took a bit longer than expected, but the hiring manager kept me updated on the status. I didn't interview with any peers, which was also a little unusual. The process led to an offer.
- Can you explain your process for validating a particular requirement?
