First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at San Diego Gas & Electric.
Design & Drafting Technician
I interviewed with SDG&E and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The interview itself was pretty straightforward, mostly behavioral stuff about my past experience, teamwork, and problem-solving, really pushing the STAR method. The interviewers were professionals and it felt pretty structured, not too hard. The main problem, though, was the communication after the interview. There was hardly any follow-up, and the whole process felt slow and unclear. After putting in time to prepare and interview, not getting timely updates was frustrating and I was left guessing about my status for a while. So, even though the interview was organized and professional, the lack of communication afterwards made it feel impersonal and kind of a downer.
- What makes you the right candidate for this position?
Organizational Development Consultant
First, there was a recruiter screening, then I spoke with the hiring manager. After that, I had a panel interview with the team manager and a few team members. They were all nice and professional. But after the last interview, I heard nothing back and was ghosted even after following up.

IT Associate
The interview process had three rounds, and all of them involved situational-based questions. The interviewers were really nice and helpful. Each interview was about an hour long or even less. They suggest checking out the interview FAQs on their website to get ready and using the STAR method.
- Can you tell me about any skills you possess that are not directly related to your main area of expertise?
Product Manager
The interview process involved a direct screening by the hiring manager, followed by a panel interview, a behavioral assessment, and a final interview with the director. This process took a considerable amount of time. After not hearing back for over three weeks, I reached out to the hiring manager, but instead of a response, I received a generic rejection email stating they had found a better fit. I was disappointed with SDG&E's handling of the situation, especially given the time I invested.
- Can you tell me about your experience with behavioral questions?
