I had a regular phone screen. The recruiter contacted me and set up a meeting with the hiring manager. The interview lasted about 45 minutes and focused on typical biomedical engineering questions, specifically around statistics and signal processing.

The interview process itself was reasonable, though the overall recruitment experience was highly disappointing. After an initial call with the recruiter, I participated in a screening round with the hiring manager, which included a 10-minute presentation and a 40-minute discussion of my resume. The final interview loop consisted of a 45-minute presentation and five subsequent interviews. The technical questions were relatively straightforward. While the interviews were fair in scope and content, the conduct of the recruitment team left a negative impression. After completing six hours of final interviews, I received no further communication or feedback—effectively being ghosted. As a Ph.D. holder, I am well-acquainted with professional rejections; however, the complete lack of follow-up in this case reflects a concerning level of disregard for candidates’ time and effort. Although I might expect such treatment after an initial screening, it is unacceptable from a company of Samsung’s stature following a full interview loop. This experience demonstrated a lack of professionalism and respect for applicants. Consequently, I will not be pursuing any future opportunities with Samsung Research America and will advise my peers and colleagues to exercise caution when considering roles there.

Applied online, no referral. Recruiter emailed a few weeks later to chat about my background. Then I had one online technical interview, a coding interview in C++ related to my background. I passed that and then was invited to an on-site interview. The onsite had 4 slots where I was interviewed about my research background, coding interview (leetcode), etc. Overall, a positive experience with kind people and a great office.

First up is a Recruiter Screening (15–30 mins) with Bruce or another Turnberry recruiter. They'll wanna make sure your background is solid, check your communication skills, see if you're available, where you wanna work, and get your Corp-to-Corp details. You'll also chat briefly about the client and what they're looking for. Then, there's a Client Phone/Video Interview – Round 1 (30–60 mins) with the Platform Manager or a tech lead from the client company. This one covers stuff like your Agile project experience, JIRA skills, any past work with endpoint security or enterprise deployments, and how you handle communication and manage stakeholders. If they like you, there might be a Client Interview – Round 2 (Optional / Panel), which could include product managers, the security team, or senior IT folks. This round goes deeper into program planning and risk mitigation, how you talk to execs and tech teams, and throws some real-world or situational questions at you.
