Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Samsung Research America.
Management
First, I spoke with a headhunter over the phone and in person. Then, I met with an internal hiring person. After that, I had a full day of interviews on site. I never heard back from the company.
- Can you describe your most recent experience in leading teams?
Manager
HR prescreen (phone) - will get back in 2-5 biz days. Then, hiring manager/same position personnel (not your direct report) on the phone. Onsite interview (final) - will take almost whole day to finish the 1:1 interview with each teammate.
- Can you detail your understanding of the project and Android app technology?
- What is your family situation?
- What are the ages of your children?
Manager
This company's recruitment staff represents the company to candidates. In today's competitive job market, companies need to make a good impression to attract talent. It's really telling when recruiters lack basic professional courtesy and don't update candidates on their status promptly. You have to wonder how employees are treated if this is the initial interaction. Based on reviews from current employees, not hearing back might actually be a good thing. This was the worst recruitment experience I've had so far.
- The initial interview is a standard phone screen before proceeding to the onsite interview.
