First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ropes & Gray.
Summer Associate
The interview process was quite drawn out. It went straight to a callback, but I had to wait a while to get the interview scheduled. After the interview, it's been a month with no further information. This seems to be the case for many people. I think for the 2025-26 hiring cycle, they're unsure how to approach it.

The interview process was drawn out, no urgency to hire. I had a preliminary phone screen then an interview with two members of the team. I did not hear back for about a week and a half, when I was told that the interview process would be getting put on hold until after the first of the year, but that my application was still open for consideration. I was appreciative to receive a call from the talent acquisition team member to give me a heads up about this. A little more than a week after the New Year I received a generic email from Ropes stating I was no longer a candidate for the role. Everyone during the interview process was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. I do think the process could be improved to allow candidates a better understanding of where they are in the process and whether they are still being considered. I was told that there would likely be one or two more rounds of interviews, however from application submission to emailing stating I was no longer being considered was a rather long period of time.

Program Paralegal
I had a phone screener with a manager that was supposed to be 30 minutes, but it ended up being almost an hour. They said I was a great fit and I should hear back in a week, but it's been almost three weeks with no response. It felt like they ghosted me. The interview was straightforward with behavioral questions, and they asked why I want to work at the firm. The interviewer seemed experienced at R&G but didn't have much decision-making power.

I had to reschedule three times for a phone screening and never got a call from the hiring associate at each time we agreed upon. To get these interviews scheduled, I had to re-email the associate multiple times and follow-up after no response too. Then, one time the associate claimed he called me but I had not history of it in my phone -- I've also sent my number to them multiple times to confirm that they were calling the correct line. I wish I could interview, as I think the firm is really cool, but really couldn't get a hold of them.
