& Process

I had two interviews, the first with 2 partners and the second with 4 partners. Both were online. The people were nice. They asked a lot of questions and expected me to ask a lot of questions back.

The interview process started with a round at school where they asked general questions about why I'm interested in law and this specific firm, and also included a patent analysis. The second round was at the firm itself, with 6-8 attorneys, and there was lunch involved. Each round at the firm was 30 minutes long, with 10 minutes dedicated to them asking me questions and 20 minutes for me to ask them questions. While the interview process itself was okay, it took several months to hear back, and I felt like they were stringing me along.

I started with an on-campus interview and then got invited for a full-on interview at the Ropes and Gray office. Both interviews felt pretty relaxed, mostly just getting to know each other. The on-site involved around 6-7 interviewers and a lunch. A big part was answering questions like "Describe your research in grad school in simple terms" and "Why do you want this job?". The second half was mostly me asking them questions. I actually had to ask a bunch, which was good because I learned more about them. I'd suggest prepping a big list of questions (like 20) so you have plenty to choose from.
