Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ropes & Gray.
Summer Associate
The interview process was quite drawn out. It went straight to a callback, but I had to wait a while to get the interview scheduled. After the interview, it's been a month with no further information. This seems to be the case for many people. I think for the 2025-26 hiring cycle, they're unsure how to approach it.
- Why this firm?
- Tell me about your resume.
Summer Associate
It was a good experience with friendly people. The interviews felt mostly conversational. When talking with partners, the main focus was on why I was interested in the firm and specific practice areas. Associates, on the other hand, asked more standard behavioral questions.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a challenge and how you dealt with it?
- What motivates your interest in this particular firm?
- Which practice area are you considering?
Associate
The interview process started with one screener interview. After that, there were four 30-minute interviews that made up the "CB" round. Two of these interviews were with partners, and the other two were with associates. I received a rejection email about 4 weeks after the "CB" round concluded. I suspect I might have been a second choice, but I'm not sure.
