First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Research Foundation of CUNY.
Intern
The interview process felt very natural. It all happened on Zoom, with everyone initially in a main room. Then, individuals were moved into breakout rooms for one-on-one chats with partners. These sessions were to go over what to expect, give more details about the company and its business, and see if it felt like a good match.
- Are you familiar with our organization?
Instructional Designer
It was an online Zoom interview. There were 3 interviewers who asked me questions one after another. The interview lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and they asked a total of 10 questions about my past roles, ID projects, and responsibilities.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain your motivation for applying for this role?
- Could you tell us about your previous positions and what your responsibilities were?
- Can you share some details about your instructional design projects?
Program Manager
It was a quick and painless process. I worked with a recruiter who found me. I sent in my resume and applied online. First, there was a panel interview. Then I submitted my work sample, which involved answering a couple of questions and submitting some documentation I had previously created for other jobs. Lastly, I met with the Deputy Director, who would be my supervisor for the role, and then I was hired. The paperwork took about 3 weeks to process, which is pretty lengthy. Overall, one of the better and easier interview processes.
- Can you discuss your project management skills?
- How would you describe your approach to management?
- What are your aspirations for your career?
Grant Associate
I sent in my application online and then about a month and a half later, the hiring manager got in touch for an interview. It was just one interview that went for an hour with four people from the team, including managers and colleagues. They asked me questions about my past experiences concerning the job, how I manage my time, and some standard behavioral stuff. The chat went well, and everyone was super nice and friendly. About three days after the interview, they asked for my references. They did a reference check, and then two weeks after the interview, I got the offer.
- Can you share an instance where you had to deal with a difficult individual and describe your approach to resolving the situation?
