Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Research Foundation of CUNY.
Intern
It was a group interview format. Everyone was asked the same question and we could volunteer to answer. The focus wasn't on technical skills, but more on personal character, integrity, and if we'd be a good fit for the role.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- What would you do if your manager wasn't happy with your work?
- Why are you interested in this role?
Intern
The interview process felt very natural. It all happened on Zoom, with everyone initially in a main room. Then, individuals were moved into breakout rooms for one-on-one chats with partners. These sessions were to go over what to expect, give more details about the company and its business, and see if it felt like a good match.
- Are you familiar with our organization?
Intern
For the specific role I applied for, we had a group zoom interview. We were given 30 minutes to create and present a marketing campaign. We were split into randomly assigned groups, and we were essentially in teams competing against each other. People were judged both individually and as a group.
- What made you want to apply for this position?
- What skills or experience do you bring to this role?
- Develop and pitch a marketing campaign.
