Data Analyst
The whole thing kicked off with a video call with a recruiter, which felt pretty standard, not too bad though. After that, I had a live coding session with a future teammate, and it was pretty straightforward. Then I chatted with the hiring manager for over an hour. They hit me with some smart questions and even threw in a surprise live coding challenge which totally caught me off guard. Following that was a take-home task that was supposed to take about 8 hours, but it ended up taking me 12. I had to build data in their system, check logic, answer some questions, and put together a 6-slide presentation. The final round was a panel with two team members (one who'd only been there a couple of months), a technical manager, and the HM. Except for the HM, the rest of the panel seemed pretty checked out. I presented my assignment and fielded questions, and then got to ask some of my own. When it was their turn to ask about me, nobody did. I left feeling pretty bummed about the team and the company. It seems like they don't do a great job of filtering people before the final stage, especially considering how much work they expect you to do. The panel's lack of engagement made me wonder if the staff is overworked and if they make good decisions.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with difficult stakeholders.
- Can you share an experience where you worked with challenging stakeholders?
Quality Engineer
There were 4 interviews in total. First, I spoke with the technical recruiter about my experience and background. Then, I had a round with the QA team lead and the Director of QE. The next two rounds consisted of a technical interview and a final interview with the VP of Quality. This role is for a QE with some project management responsibilities because the company is reorganizing.
- Can you tell me the number of test cases in your regression tests for CI/CD?
Procurement Coordinator
I applied online for the job and a month later got an email from recruiting to schedule a 30-minute initial interview. It was a good call, professional but friendly. I really liked how they talked about the company. About a month after that, I had my last round of interviews. I liked the interview process both times, it was engaging and we had good discussions. HR sent detailed emails before each interview round telling me what to expect. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job. I only got a generic rejection email after I followed up. I was disappointed with how they handled it, expecting more feedback and professionalism after all the effort put into the interviews, rather than a short, cold email. I understand not getting the job, but the lack of professionalism was sad.
- Can you share an experience where you collaborated with different teams and how you managed the communication?
Product Designer
It was a REALLY long interview day, spent entirely at their office. Started with a 30-min recruiter call, then a 1-hour Zoom with the Head of Product Design where we discussed my background. The crazy part was the rest of the day at their office. They didn't even provide lunch, which was weird since it was an all-day thing. I felt like after meeting the highest position, it would be over, but I had to do it all in one day and felt like it was a waste of time and had to take off work. Then, a portfolio review with the entire design team, PMs, engineers, and the head of product – a lot of people, and they grilled me with questions. After that, I met with a product manager and engineer for an hour, then a senior product designer. By then, I was exhausted, but I still had to meet with their head of product.
- Can you present two case studies from your portfolio?
