Had a quick chat with the store manager about the CSR job. It wasn't in an office, but right there in the lobby of the check cashing place. The questions were simple, a really easy interview. It was okay.

They had two rounds of interviews, one was in person and the other was a phone call. They asked basic interview questions. Some questions were about my personal experience, some were about my personality to see if I would be a good fit, and some were about the job itself and how I would handle the expectations of the role. They also mentioned the length of time it takes to hear back after the interviews.

It took about a month after applying for the recruiter to reach out. They called while I was driving and wanted to do a phone screen right away, which was weird. The recruiter said they wanted to schedule another call but would be at a conference for a week. However, 10 minutes later, I got an email for a meeting that week. We finally talked a week later for a proper phone interview. Some things that stood out were: they asked multiple times about my RPO experience, even though they said the company doesn't use RPO. They also seemed to forget our first chat, so I repeated a lot of what we already discussed. I was asked a lot about dealing with 'difficult people' and 'bad hiring managers,' to the point I asked the recruiter if they felt they were in a difficult work environment. The recruiter then spent about 5 minutes talking about how bad the managers were, sharing a story about a manager who posted their own job on Indeed and then said they did it because I'm never in the office. The most surprising part was the salary discussion. After I stated my expected compensation, the recruiter went silent and then said they'd only pay $25k more than I asked for. When I asked if that included a bonus, they confirmed it was X plus bonus, which seemed like they gave away $25k unnecessarily. It felt very unprofessional and odd.
