A gazillion interviews, where you have to repeat the same story, including a final interview with the CEO. 1. HR Interview 2. Peer interview 3. 1-hour assessment 4. In-person interview 5. 2nd peer interview 6. Interview with CEO. The only positive thing I could say is that the HR was polite and very efficient in the communication. Team in Sofia office also very positive and polite. Crazy rumors about the allegedly toxic CEO put me off before even getting to the final stage. Reading Glassdoors reviews about the company can be a fun evening activity to eat your popcorn with.

Recruitment Manager
The interview process started off pretty good with the recruiter and a local rep being professional. But then the CEO interview was a mess. He was super late, and after waiting almost an hour and trying to reschedule, we had to postpone. When we finally talked a few days later, he was late again and seemed totally unprepared, mostly just rambling about a bad hire and showing screenshots. Honestly, given what I'd read online, it wasn't that shocking. They did give me an offer that was okay at first, but it was through their US entity which meant crazy high taxes and not enough to live on. They tweaked the offer after I mentioned it, and I accepted. BUT, the final contract came super late and had illegal stuff in it, like making us work weekends/holidays with no clear overtime pay. When I called them out, they refused to change it and pulled the offer. Also, we talked about hybrid work, but then they said no, full office, because of some policy, even though the office wasn't even ready and everyone was remote anyway. They rescinded the offer right before I was supposed to start, and the laptop they promised showed up late that same weekend. It was just really unprofessional. After over a month of interviews and calls, I'd say really think hard before you get involved with this company's hiring.

PHP Developer
I was a bit nervous reading other applicant's reviews, but the Paymentwall interviews felt more like a learning experience than a strict judgment. An HR person called me after 4 days, and then I had an interview with a technical lead. He was really nice and friendly, and we talked for about 40-45 minutes. He asked me about my technical skills, focusing on OOP concepts and design patterns. After that, I was given a coding task, which I completed. Surprisingly, they even gave me feedback on my mistakes and suggestions for future learning to improve my skills. I didn't get the job because I lacked experience, which is fair. I'm sharing this because some reviews might discourage others, but they're not entirely accurate. Many applicants who were rejected couldn't accept a 'no' and kept asking for feedback, which the company consistently provided. If you try to trick them with mistakes in your task, it won't pass the CTO, and you'll be rejected. I'd love to be considered for future openings because I know I'd learn a lot there. Don't let negative reviews put you off this company.

Legal Intern
I had an interview with Paymentwall through Skype, it was scheduled for August 15, 2014, in the evening, around 7 or 8 PM. It was for an internship with their legal team. The interview lasted about two hours and the call kept dropping. The interviewer asked me what some basic things on my resume meant and was pretty aggressive. I think it might have been a test to see how I handled being abused. Even though the interview went on for a while, I never heard back from them about whether I got the job or not. Honestly, I was glad, as I couldn't imagine working somewhere so hostile to new applicants, especially for an internship. Looking back, I should have just ended the interview when it first started getting unprofessional.
