Don't apply here. You'll get a take home exercise with disconnected data. In the real world, the solution would be to 'actually pull the data correctly.' Instead, you have to embark on a meandering exercise that takes far longer than the recommended time just to make sense of anything. So it's obviously not an organization that cares about data, and therefore, you should avoid a position where you are doing anything with it.

I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn for what I thought was an initial phone screen. I scheduled the interview using their calendar link, expecting a phone call with the recruiter. However, it turned out to be a RECORDED Zoom call with a panel of 4 silent individuals and the recruiter. After some general questions, the focus shifted to inquiries about my current company (a competitor) and its sales process, instead of discussing the role or my relevant experience. I was taken by surprise. A silent, recording panel observing is not how phone screens are typically conducted. If they were interested in insights into my company's sales process, I would have gladly shared without the pretense of an interview. I would have even accepted the interview pretense if I had been notified beforehand that it would be a recorded Zoom call with a group of people.

Behavioral Presentation Group

The interview process was really thorough. First, there was about a 30-minute initial chat. Then, I had a second interview that involved a role-play and some follow-up questions. The third interview was a deeper dive, which seemed more focused on understanding me, my career aspirations, and if I'd be a good culture fit. Everyone I talked to during the process was great and seemed really passionate about their jobs. I ended up declining the offer because my current job situation changed.

I sent in my application online via Angel List. A Packback talent rep got in touch. We had a brief phone chat where we talked about my past work and what I'm passionate about. We both felt the next step, the sales pitch role play, would be a good fit. The sales pitch itself was pretty straightforward. I had to present Packback to a fictional professor. A few days after that, I was invited for an in-person interview. During this visit, I got to shadow a Strategy Consultant and chat with some actual professors. Following that, I had interviews with the COO and a sales manager. Got my offer a few days later. I really liked how smooth the whole process was, and I appreciated the chance to experience the role for about an hour.

Given that Packback emphasizes curiosity, the questions I asked at the end of each interview were likely as important, if not more so, than the questions they asked me.
