The interview was pretty standard. At the very end, they asked about the university I attended. I pointed out that they would have seen from my resume that I didn't attend there, only a few semesters at a local community college, which wasn't even on my resume. They told me that unless I had a degree (any degree, not just in IT or Computer Science), I wouldn't be considered further. I felt really disrespected, like they wasted about an hour of my time because they couldn't be bothered to look at my resume before the interview.

I went through 2 interviews for the Staff Software Engineer role in San Leandro, CA. The first was a recruiter call. The second was a 1-hour session with a staff engineer and the department head, which included 20 minutes of behavioral questions, 20 minutes of technical questions, and 20 minutes of open discussion. I didn't receive any feedback afterwards, which I found unprofessional as I think an update on candidate selection or interview performance is important.

I've been in the running for a University Recruiting job with the PI group for 5 months now. I talked to leaders in the area and an Internship specialist, and they all seemed to think my background was a good fit. The communication throughout these 5 months was really bad though. I was pretty much stuck having to follow up with everyone involved, and most of the time I didn't hear back. Eventually, I got a call from the University Recruiting manager saying they decided to go a different way, looking for someone with more of a corporate university recruiting background. I was totally blindsided by this because I've been in university recruiting for 7 years. They only apologized after I brought up the lack of communication, and it didn't feel very sincere.

I had a phone screen where they talked about my background, what I'm looking for, and what the job is about. Then I went in for an on-site interview. It was okay. I met with four people, some from support and one from HR, all at different levels. Each chat lasted about 45 minutes. They asked about my background, technical skills, and customer service experience. I didn't get asked much about the company itself, which is a bit unusual based on other reviews. Because the job involves a lot of troubleshooting while talking to customers, they really wanted to see how well I could learn that and how I think through problems. Be ready for questions like 'tell me about a time things went wrong and how you handled it,' or if you have customer service experience, 'tell me about a time a customer was unhappy and what you did.'
