I was referred by an employee who wanted to make quick money. She gave me test questions and answers so I could pass an exam. I was advised to invent a technical hobby to seem interested in technology and coding. I was also told to make up a school organization involvement to show interest in school. They suggested I talk about jQuery, WPF, Android, and Ruby. That worked, and I got through the interview. The line manager was impressed; I was polite and agreeable. When asked about travel, I made sure to say yes. The best candidates were rejected because they weren't willing to travel. All technical consultants work remotely, so travel is a way to see if an employee will go the extra mile. People unwilling to travel for the company are seen as self-interested, not company-first.

The first interview was on campus and lasted an hour. It was a 1-on-1 session with general interview questions, and I had to explain what a bond and a derivative are as if I were talking to a layperson. The second round was at their Long Island office. It began with a 2-hour skills test focusing on following directions and logical thinking. Afterward, I had two 1-on-1 interviews with employees, one of whom was the person I met initially. They were both very friendly. After a 15-minute break, I met with the group head, and that interview felt a bit more intense than the others. It was a long day, but as expected for a second round. I'm waiting for a final round interview soon, which they mentioned would be about an hour.

Open Link was a small and friendly place. The interview process involved one-on-one sessions across three rounds. The first round was a 40-minute skills test, where I could choose between C/C++ or C++/C# with UML & SQL. Someone with 4-5 years of IT experience should find it manageable within the time limit. Typically, I'd expect the skills test to be followed by a discussion about it and a whiteboard session. However, they were flexible with me and scheduled the whiteboard session as the second round. This interviewer was very technical and wanted to verify the details on my CV. This round went well, and the interviewer mentioned the next round would be with the technical director, followed by meeting the team and an HR round for negotiation. Unfortunately, during the third round, the Tech Director also wanted a whiteboard session but wasn't interested in the technical aspects. I suspect he was looking for a business perspective on my work. If you reach the third round with the Tech Director, make sure your whiteboard presentation emphasizes the business rationale behind your project approach and associated risks. Good luck!

I first met people from the company at a job fair at my school and gave them my resume. About a month later, they contacted me about doing a skills test in Java and SQL. The test was pretty simple. The SQL part was short, with a 10-minute time limit, but they didn't really enforce it. I took the test with other candidates. Soon after, I got an email inviting me for an interview. The interview itself didn't go great; I was expecting to speak with two people but only met with one. It was a tough interview with a stern Polish woman who seemed unfamiliar with my resume. She reviewed my resume and test results, and it felt like she was looking for someone with much more experience, and likely wouldn't have invited me if she'd seen my resume earlier. Since it was my first real interview, I considered it a good learning experience.
