Legal
The interview process was pretty chill, with three rounds total. One of those was a panel interview where they hit me with role competency questions. It was all pretty straightforward, and everyone was nice. I didn't really have to prep much, mostly just behavioral questions where they wanted STAR format answers.
- Can you tell me what DEI means to you?
Intern
I had one call with the HR manager, which was about 30 minutes, where they asked me why I was interested in this company and this specific position. After that, I had another 30-minute call with one of the managers. This call focused more on my experience and included some technical questions pertinent to the role. The overall experience was very welcoming and friendly.
- Could you elaborate on your extracurricular experiences listed on your resume?
- How do these extracurricular experiences connect with your interests for this particular job?
Associate
The interview process seemed to lack diversity, which was surprising given the organization's global mission and its location in a diverse city. It raised questions about how teams were formed without reflecting the city's or the global scope's diversity. Advice was given to ensure hiring processes reflect a commitment to diverse talent. Additionally, one interviewer was perceived as standoffish and condescending, creating a negative experience as if they were looking for mistakes. This interviewer's behavior also seemed to undermine their direct reports. Inconsistent job description structures across departments were also noted as a potential red flag.
- Could you ask specific questions about the role and its responsibilities?
Litigation Paralegal
The interview process included a recruiter call, followed by an interview with someone from a different location, then a writing sample, and finally a team interview. I got to the writing sample stage but was then rejected because the team thought my sample had too many errors. A few people, including an attorney, reviewed it afterwards and didn't find any mistakes. I feel this was a waste of time because they had me interview three times and complete a sample before a team who hadn't interviewed me reviewed it. It seems like a waste of time to have four rounds for a paralegal role when the writing sample is the deciding factor, especially after the initial interviews.
