The interview process was supposed to be a few rounds: a quick 30m chat, a more in-depth 1hr interview with the manager, a technical interview, and then a case study. I did well through the first two, finished the second on a Wednesday before I left town, and was told I would get a call back the next Monday at the latest. Monday came, no call. No problem, they might be busy. I gave them a few days, called the recruiter, left a voicemail. The next week, nothing. Called the recruiter again, left another voicemail. It's been 3 weeks, I've heard they've filled the position, and I still have yet to hear from the recruiter who was going to schedule me for the next round. Got ghosted for 3 weeks after nailing two rounds. Still haven't heard a peep.

It was a long and complicated process with many steps, but it was organised. One interviewer wasn't great, seemed more focused on proving me wrong than assessing my skills. The other parts of the interview process were fair. The steps are tough: they cover software engineering practices, live coding, a take-home assignment, problem-solving, and then check for leadership potential and cultural fit. Expect in-depth behavioural questions, along with system design on a whiteboard and coding challenges.

I was interviewing for a C++ developer role focused on a core software component. The first two rounds were with senior engineers from Switzerland, focusing on my C++ skills and problem-solving. Then, I had two more rounds with managers from India and Switzerland, which felt redundant as they covered the same topics. The final round was supposed to be with the VP of India, but my start date at my next organization was just a week away. They then told me they hadn't gotten headcount approval for the position and it would take 2-3 weeks, asking if I could wait. It made me wonder why they were interviewing if they didn't have approval.

An external HR team reached out to me on LinkedIn, and interviews were scheduled fairly quickly. The first interview was with the HR team, the second with a product lead where I had to prepare B2B cases to share, and the third interview happened with one of the CEOs, for whom I also had to prepare another case study. After spending hours preparing these case studies and having the interviews, the feedback comes as an automatic rejection email of "not moving forward with your application".
