New York County District Attorney Interview Questions
& Process

I went through three rounds for this role. The first interview was with HR, the second with an attorney and analyst, and the last one was with the Bureau Chief. The first two interviews were virtual, but I had the option to come in person or do it on Zoom. All three interviews happened within a two-week period. They let me know quickly if I was moving on to the next round. Everyone I spoke with was really nice and easy to talk to.

It looks like they have a set list of questions they ask everyone, and they just read them off. So if you prepare beforehand, you should be good.

I first sent in my resume and cover letter. When they called me for an interview, I also had to submit a transcript, personal statement, and two recommendation letters. Normally, I'd think that's a lot, but I understand it for this position. I interviewed with an Assistant District Attorney in the Police Accountability Bureau and it was a really good experience. The interviewer was pretty casual and seemed really interested in me. So, definitely be ready for the usual interview questions and prepare for follow-ups that will make you think.

The interview process began with a screening interview. It was a very conversational experience, and the interviewer was quite kind. They mostly asked about my resume and previous experience, so it's important to be able to explain your background thoroughly and be ready for some unexpected questions. Despite their apparent need to hire someone quickly, the process moved very slowly. They took six weeks to provide updates, which ultimately led nowhere as I never heard back from them. It was disappointing because the interviewer seemed to be leading me on without any real intention of moving forward.
