After applying, I went through a lengthy in-person interview. It included a lot of questions and a role-playing exercise on the sales floor where I had to "sell" an item. Some parts of this were done in a group, and some individually.

It was a 3 stage process. I met with the manager and it was friendly. It's my first job so they asked realistic questions. It included scenario based questions and general questions about experience etc. Also about my availability to work and I got a chance to see the place.

I had a phone call with HR first, and then within a week, I had an in-person interview with the hiring managers. Two people interviewed me, covering different product categories. The interview lasted about an hour, focusing on my competencies, skills, and past experiences. It started formally but became a friendly discussion. I thought I would get an offer, but a week later, they told me the role was too junior for my current skills and experience. I appreciate their honesty, especially since I was looking for a beginner role due to my lack of UK industry experience.

After applying online, I was contacted for a group interview. There were a few of us, and we were asked to come up with five questions we'd ask a customer looking for a gift, emphasizing listening to others while suggesting relevant questions. The interview concluded with a presentation of an A4 poster about ourselves and our personalities, encouraging us to highlight traits suitable for the role. I passed the group interview and proceeded to a one-on-one interview with standard questions that weren't too challenging. The advice is to answer them thoroughly and present yourself as an engaging candidate for the role. I also succeeded in this stage and received an offer, which I accepted, and we discussed my availability to start. Overall, it was a very straightforward and easy interview process, perhaps the least intimidating I've experienced. Remember to remain composed, let your personality show, but also convey seriousness about the position. Find that balance. Good luck!
