A recruiter contacted me about a contract proposal writer role. They sent my resume to the hiring team, and an interview was scheduled quickly. The interview itself was quite easy. I inquired about their budget for the position, but they were unsure. I told them to follow up once they had a budget or hourly rate decided. The recruiter then extended a verbal offer within two days, including a start date and a very low rate for the field. I asked if a higher rate was possible, and she said she would check with the team and reply by the end of the day. I followed up a few days later with no reply. The start date passed. I followed up again with no response. After my third follow-up, realizing they were likely hiring someone else willing to work for less, I finally received a response, "We went with someone else." This was extremely unprofessional. They should have simply stated they couldn't increase the rate instead of ghosting candidates who inquired about budget flexibility.

On the day of the call, the recruiter was running late, so I emailed to check if we were still on, and then they called immediately. They mentioned they 'mixed up' the interview time and weren't sure about the location or the specific position I was interviewing for. They said they'd follow up, but I ended up being ghosted after that.

Submitted my application online. Then I had a phone screening, which was a few weeks after I applied. After that, I had a phone interview with an Office Partner. Next was a Webex interview with a Manager and another Partner. I followed up with the recruiter to ask for more time to review their offer, and they were very accommodating. Overall, I had a good experience with the recruiting process.
