First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India.
Apprenticeship
The interview process for the Mercedes-Benz R&D apprenticeship was pretty structured and professional. It usually involved a technical round where they checked core fundamentals and talked about projects, and then a managerial/HR round to see how well you communicate, solve problems, and fit into the company culture. The technical interview really focused on making sure you understood the basics and could apply them, not on tricky questions. The interviewers were easy to talk to and gave you enough time to explain your answers. Overall, it was a smooth and clear process, aiming to see both your technical skills and if you align with the company's values.
- Can you walk me through one of your projects, detailing the problem, your solution, any hurdles, and how you confirmed your findings?
- Could you elaborate on your thought process and fundamental understanding concerning a project?
Senior Engineer
It was a quick interview process, they got back to me right after my interviews. Three rounds in total. First one was all technical, second one was a mix of technical and managerial stuff, and the last one was HR. Only the first interview was online, the other two were in person.
- Could you describe the different types of steering mechanisms found in a four-wheeler system?
- Can you list the Bill of Materials (BOM) for a suspension assembly?
Principal Consultant
There are about 3-4 rounds of interviews, and it really depends on the specific project you're interviewing for. First, there's a technical round, then a managerial one. Sometimes you skip the manager interview. The fourth round is with the German team if you're interviewing for a project involving them. After these, an HR round will happen while they're working on releasing the offer. The whole process can be slow depending on what they need, but for me, it took from July to October to get the offer.
- What are your technical skills relevant to this role?
Intern
The interview involved a comprehensive discussion of ML/DL concepts, starting from data pre-processing, covering linear regressions, and extending to neural networks. Following this, I was asked to elaborate on a deep learning project listed on my resume. Finally, a straightforward data structures and algorithms (DSA) question was posed.
- Can you explain ML/DL in detail from A to Z, covering pre-processing, linear regressions, and neural networks?
- Could you provide a detailed explanation of a deep learning project from your resume?
- Can you solve a simple DSA question?
