I had one phone interview, then two zoom interviews where we discussed the role and my qualifications. After that, there was a reference check. The whole thing took about a month. Then I was ghosted, and later they told me they chose someone else and asked if I wanted to talk about why. Honestly, it felt really superficial and like a waste of my time. The company is about to be acquired by Xero, and they even mentioned that this job might not be guaranteed long-term, like after 18 months. They also said the teams are worried about layoffs because of the current market. I hope whoever gets the job works out well.

Melio's recruiter reached out to me and was communicative, which was appreciated. However, after putting significant time into a take-home assignment, I wasn't advanced to the next stage. This felt discouraging, especially given my background. Clearer expectations for the process would have been helpful. It felt like a waste of time. Companies should be more mindful of candidate time and provide feedback or be more transparent about expectations when requiring extra work.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

My interview process at Glassdoor was divided into two main stages: First, an initial HR Call where I had a very pleasant and friendly conversation with the HR department. They were welcoming and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the process. Second, after the HR call, I was scheduled for interviews with product managers from various departments. During these sessions, they presented me with a case study about a trading app (buy/sell stocks, manage/view transactions on iOS/Android, fee-based revenue) and asked a series of detailed questions.

I had an initial phone screener with the recruiter that went really well. After that, I was given an Excel assessment. I was pretty surprised by how poorly it was put together; it had a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes, and the instructions weren't clear at all. It really seemed like the hiring team didn't put much effort into it or even check it for clarity. Unfortunately, I didn't even get to interview with the hiring team because I was cut from the process. I didn't get any real feedback, just some general comments like 'the team didn't like this part and that part.' It seems like a great company, but the finance team doesn't seem to be very invested.
