First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Medical Diagnostic Laboratories.
Sales Executive
We had 4 interviews with regional and company leadership. The team did a great job of being informative about role expectations. Prepare questions and make closing statements, they expect you to ask in-depth questions and provide insight into how you expect to use newly learned information about the company to vet business in your area.
- How would you respond if you were asked something you didn't know?
Sales Representative
I went through 4 interviews plus one with HR. HR's interview was confusing because they said someone would inform me about the job offer, but I never heard back. They told me to keep in touch, so I did, but they continued to ignore me. I was completely ignored and never informed about the status of my application, despite having an interview with HR. I called them twice and left messages, but neither was returned.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in sales?
- What attracts you to MDL specifically?
- Could you explain your reasons for transitioning into a sales role?
Research Associate
My interview process started with a phone interview. After that, I had a full day of in-person interviews where I met with about 7 people. During the interviews, I noticed a couple of staff scientists who didn't seem very competent. I also learned that 5 former lab members had left the lab in the past month, though I'm not sure if it was their decision or management's. I tried following up with HR the day after my interview. Over two weeks, I left 3 voicemails and several messages with HR secretaries asking for a call back, but I never heard anything. They only called me back TWO MONTHS later to offer me the job, which felt very unprofessional.
- List and describe the functions of various immune cells.
Medical Biller and Coder
Near the end of my 4-month medical billing and coding course, the career services folks suggested I check out this company. I had a phone interview, and then we set up an onsite visit. Once I got there, they took me upstairs, and after a quick chat with an administrative lead, I met with the Administrative lead. She ended up offering me an internship right there at the first interview!
- Describe a situation where you had to manage a challenging client, detailing your response and the resolution.
- Can you share an experience dealing with a difficult client, including your reaction and how you solved the problem?
