I applied online and got a text about a screening interview. The screening call was about 3 minutes long, and the interviewer seemed disengaged. Then, I went in for an in-person interview. They were 15 minutes late to get me from the waiting area. The interview consisted of situational questions, and it felt like they weren't interested in my actual experience. The environment was unwelcoming. They said I'd hear back in 1-2 weeks about moving forward, but I never did, even for a no. They've kept reposting the job, which makes me wonder if it's a real position. I don't recommend this process.

I interviewed with McLane because it's part of Berkshire Hathaway, even though they're located in a remote part of Texas. The interviewer said they'd give me quick updates, but I was ghosted instead. It's disappointing when companies make you spend hours on write-ups and team calls, and then you don't even get a simple email saying you weren't selected. What a waste of time. If this is how they treat people early on, I can only imagine what it's like to work there.

The recruiter contacted me after I applied to go over my general experience and do a quick Q&A. After that, an interview was set up with the hiring manager. Then, there was another interview with either another manager or a director. The questions were mainly behavioral, and the scope wasn't super clear.

The interview process was very straightforward and designed to make candidates feel comfortable. The recruiter was approachable and represented a rapidly growing company. This could be a good opportunity for local individuals or those aspiring to become truck drivers with a CDL A. A significant drawback, however, is that the management's approach is deceptive, with recruiters acting as 'Pied Pipers.' Candidates are required to work for over three months to prove themselves before being considered for the trainee program. While learning warehouse jobs is part of it, the application is for DRIVER TRAINEE, not warehouse stocker, loader, or forklift operator roles. If selected, there's a two-year contract for training, costing between $7000-$9000. At $18/hour, a 23-hour workday yields $230, meaning $50 is saved daily. Over 12 weeks, this amounts to $3000 in training costs that the trainee effectively pays for. This is essentially predatory lending, and smart trainees should avoid it.
