First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McLane Company.
Truck Driver
The interview was pretty quick. We talked outside, like on the hood of my car. It was a bit weird, but they didn't really have their own building, just rented some space and sometimes used the other company's break room.
- Are you capable of unloading a truck on your own?
Driver
After applying, if they call you back, you'll have an interview with the department's senior manager. If that goes well, you'll speak with the HR manager. Then, a third-party company will administer a strength test since the job involves lifting. After that, you'll have to take urine and hair drug tests. If everything checks out, the company usually contacts you for a second meeting with all the managers. This meeting is casual, with food and drinks provided. An offer will then be made, and company policies will be discussed in detail.
- How do you rate your ability to work without supervision?
- What are your thoughts on training other people?
- Do you believe you are capable of training others?
Class A Truck Driver
I arrived for my interview between 4-8 PM. After the interview, I was processed for the job and given appointments for a medical exam and a driving test. The interviewer was upfront about the workload and what they expect from their drivers, emphasizing the need for good customer service.
- Are you prepared to work diligently?
- Will you be responsible for unloading your own trucks?
- Can you provide good customer service?
